DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, "Torpedo Boat Watch" with 56-hour winding indicator, 21J, 36S, massive 69mm sterling silver OF original C.W.C.Co. case, silvered DS dial, SW-pin-set, fully capped lever escapement, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#1260137. Gross weight of assembled watch 179.9 dwt (279.6 g). Hamilton's total production of this 36 size movement was 970 made with all examples being produced in a single production run spanning serial numbers 1260001 to 1260970. From known examples it appears that the first 500 movements of this run were typically paired with massive sterling silver Crescent Watch Case Co. cases as seen with the present example, while the final 470 movements of the run were typically arranged in boxed chronometer style being in gimbaled chrome tubs inside mahogany boxes.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, winding indicator not functioning as hand does not move when watch is wound, overhaul needed for winding indicator function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some fine scratches to barrel bridge, few small bits of oxide to winding wheels; dial with darkened areas scattered around perimeter, some lesser bits of darkening within central areas, 1 numeral peeling at its upper portion; fine hands; case shows little wear, some marring to opening lips and adjacent areas from rough past openings, remainder of exterior with scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, long scratch to cuvette from a slipped past opening as well as additional lesser scratches toward opening position, few small nicks, no dents or dings; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with scattered exterior scratches and some internal edge chips at its lower left.
